Hi, for those that don’t know me my name is Darren Haigh, I came to know the Lord in August 1992 while pastor David Beckett was preaching at the old Elim Church, and this is my testimony to the power and glory, perservence, love, compassion and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

…That night Davy Beckett was speaking and speaking to me, it really hit home and at the end my hand just shot up in the air, there was quite a few hands went in the air that night so Davy asked all of us to come to the front and before I knew it I was on that stage beside him and that night I accepted Jesus Christ as my saviour and my only hope, and I felt his touch. Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wrench like me I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see. Amen.

 But accepting him and trusting him was two different things he had a lot of work to do in my life and needed me to trust him, but I found it so hard I didn’t understand him I only understood this world and what I saw, I was really broken.

So it wasn’t long before I was back into old things and far from his ways, but he knew my heart and knew I was his and he wouldn’t break his promise with me, and over the next eight years I had three more children to two different girls, tried on lots of occasions to kill myself, turned to cannabis, glue, ecstasy, speed, cocaine, heroin, and turned to very serious crime to pay for them, being violent towards partners, and many others, going in and out of prison, you name it I done it but the Lord was still with me in many ways,

I began to realise that Jesus wasn’t like everything else in life and in 2000 I put my trust in him, on April 16 2000, I was baptised and over the last year he has been building me up, trusting him more and more each day.

I am now apart from cigarettes, I am drug free and for the first time in my life, I am at peace, I am still on medication and am coping with diabetes, but the Lord Jesus is healing me and I give all the glory to Him, and I thank him for all my suffering now I do rejoice in it for I have been blessed with a deep understanding of peoples suffering and have so much compassion in my heart for people, especially those that don’t know Jesus, for he is the only hope we have in this world and it is only by his grace that we all stand here today.

Praise him for he so deserves it. Jesus all for Jesus. Thank You.

UPDATE
This is just a brief update to give Glory to our Lord Jesus Christ for what He is doing and has done in my life since my testimony was written in 2001.
Also to show that God is faithful and true to His Word. Praise His Holy name for all the Glory is truly His.
He has been teaching me a lot in His Word and His ways and by being obedient to Him and coming before Him in prayer and supplication I have been drawing closer to Him and He has been blessing me with a deeper understanding of His Word and His ways. Amen.
He has brought total healing to my mind. I am no longer suffering from depression or anxiety and I am completely free from medication. I am at peace at last. Amen
